On Monday, 6th March 2017 Waterwatch Cooperative in collaboration with the Netherlands Space Office met with Chinese organizations in Beijing, China to create potential future partnerships in space applications. Waterwatch Cooperative aims to share its knowledge and know-how of creating space applications with China. China is a big agricultural market and there is a general interest to develop a specialized data center for agricultural products. Waterwatch Cooperative can create a strategic partnership of value for China while China can provide valuable investment possibilities. One of the main issues discussed was “Harvest Horizon”, a constellation of satellites with the aim to improve information on agriculture. In addition, potential collaborations related to ‘digital farming’ and satellite imagery were discussed. This visit has highlighted the future potential for creating synergies in the area of space applications between China, Waterwatch Cooperative and its partners.
